Michael PedersenMichael Pedersen spoke at the Latin America Ethics Summit, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 17-18 June 2015. Organized by Ethisphere, the Summit brought together approx. 100 chief ethics & compliance officers from across countries and sectors.

In the context of a panel discussion, which was titled “Not a Game: Anti-Corruption in Sports and Sports Sponsorships”, Michael offered his perspectives on integrity in sport. He did so along with Michael Hershman and Guillermo Jorge. Michael Hershman is Co-Founder of Transparency International, President of The Fairfax Group and Member of the ICSS Advisory Board, among many other positions. Guillermo Jorge is Managing Partner of Governance Latam, an Argentinean based legal and consulting company specialized in anti-bribery and anti-money laundering compliance. They are both former members of FIFA’s Independent Governance Committee.

Among other aspects of integrity in sport, Michael Pedersen offered his perspectives on the scope of sport governance and how the world of sport is different from the private sector in terms of how people think, behave and are motivated. He also offered his perspectives on the strategic imperative of good governance in sport and specific sport governance related challenges such as conflicts of interest, democratic structures, transparency, sponsorship deals and a leveled playing field for professional athletes.
